Discord Server, and Full Game launch date!

Hello everyone!

First off, I finally made a discord. Using my long standing username CodyNStuff, I decided to make the moniker NStuff Entertainment. I do music as well, and plan to make this discord my one stop shop for everything I do. As of now, it is fairly empty, but it will fill up with content in time. Please feel free to join it and post about any bugs or questions or just hang out in there. Here is a never expiring join link: https://discord.gg/RyKEHsKRrR

I am finishing up my current playthrough of the final iteration of The Orphans and have already made a decent chunk of changes, as I will list below. Right now I am waiting on the official lettering for The Architects of the Universe and The Orphans to be made. That is set to be done March 6th. When it is, unless something huge comes to my attention then I plan to release the full version of the game March 14th 2024 on Itch! I may get Steam released by then as well, but as of now I think it would be better to launch it here first and then launch it on Steam if all goes well.
Once the game is launched and any additional kinks found are ironed out, I will make a mobile version of the game. RPG Maker has three large advantages, 1. I was able to figure out how to use it. 2. The games are light weight enough that mobile should be able to handle it. 3. The engine and it's assets are extremely affordable, with so much being done by an overwhelmingly generous community. (Ok there are more advantages, but those three are the biggest in my opinion.)

In keeping with that last point, I plan to set the price at $5 USD. I have put about 250 hours of work as of now, and have some tile packs and other things that did cost me money, and I think it is fair to ask for 5 USD for a 12ish hour long video game. I will still give a free version to anyone who played the Beta and provided feedback to me as well as add you to the credits. If I forget you or don't credit you properly, just shoot me a message and I will make it right.

The biggest thing I am looking to get out of the current beta (besides the obvious game breaking bugs and such), is combat balance. I am going for the "If you do everything and find all the stuff, combat is easy. If you don't, it's still not very hard but will be more challenging" feel. In my current play test I think I achieved that, but let me know.

Changes made since Beta 1-6-0 are as follows:

  • Changed all the music using one original I wrote and produced, and a fair chunk from other artists who will be in the credits file.
  • Some sound FX have been replaced but not all of them have. The big ones like cursor and such have been replaced, but I didn't feel the need to change some of the more minorly used ones.
  • Realized the credits file exists and started using it.
    • Not sure how I missed this for so long, but I do still like the end game credits scroll, so I'll be sure to update that accordingly as well.
  • Changed the Tree Base basement to have matching assets to the rest of the game.
  • Added more cracks and things to existing areas to give the game a more post apocalyptic feel.
  • Added two more merchants, as I felt it was lacking opportunities for players to buy and sell.
  • Added the character names to their portraits so you can see their name when they talk.
    • By the time I realized RPG Maker was not adding the character name to the dialog, I had done quite a lot of it. Editing the portrait image to include the character name was far and away the most effective option to get the character name in there.
  • I decided to keep some RTP tiles.
    • Unfortunately I have time issues in my personal life I have found myself short on free time. It would simply be too time consuming at this stage to go through and redo many of those levels. When I start designing the sequels and prequels I will make it from the ground up using non-RTP stuff for the most part. For those of you who are tired of seeing RTP stuff, I get it, I just hope you'll give it a chance anyway and enjoy the narrative.

To those of you just skimming for the release date. I'm going for March 14th, 2024.
